Here are some FAQ's
Q. What does our curriculum model look like?
A. We are using curriculum from Purdue University that provides developmentally appropriate activities. Our teachers have a comprehensive lesson plan but are also able to adjust on the fly. For example, we might practice patterning but instead of pattern blocks, we are creating patterns and mandalas with sticks, leaves, berries, etc. We might have a plan to read about robins but then discover an eagle feather - so the plan will shift. This is responsive teaching. This is child-led. What does the trail look like this week? What is happening to the forest canopy or the forest floor. What animal habitats are supported and how can we nurture that?
And then there's the math; measuring for forts, bridges and slopes for streams, counting ants and frogs, predicting weather patterns and more.
And writing; journaling about weather, animals, leaves, designing projects, and more.
And science.....let's just say we cover that by stepping outside every day!!
Curious minds won't be bored. Busy bodies will feel self-control.

Q.I am curious about your Christian based philosophy.
A: I ask parents "What does being a Christian mean to you?" I love hearing a vast array of answers and then I share this.
To me it means a belief in and thankfulness for a higher power. In my world, that is GOD. I believe we are on this earth to care for it and for each other.
Our foundation is built on core values that are evident in our staff and practiced with our kids. Some of these values include kindness, gratitude, compassion, self-control, honesty, fortitude and more.
We will recognize that we are given an amazing space to explore and care for. And we will learn to care for one another as well.
We will not have memorized Bible verse expectations but you can expect us to say prayers, sing simple Bible songs, participate in service events and do some art projects.
I believe that by incorporating this model into our program, we create a sense of community, compassion and maturity that life isn't about competition but rather about care.
At Roots and Wings ELC, we have the amazing opportunity to provide a safe space to slow down, breathe fresh air and grow in a community of authentic caregivers. We are working with parents to set strong roots in their children so they are confident in their unique abilities and ready to fly.
